My son took the biology CLEP and got a 71, and Instantcert was a great help. The flash cards helped, but the forums were what really helped us to find resources and make a study plan. I'm thankful for this great resource. It was well worth the investment!

What Homeschool Parents Need to Know About CLEP

No Age Minimum

There is no age requirement to take a CLEP exam. Students can begin earning college credits as soon as they are ready, whether that is age 14 or 18.

No School Affiliation Required

Your student does not need to be enrolled in a traditional school. CLEP is open to everyone, including homeschooled students, and no school code or counselor signature is needed to register.

Simple ID Requirements

Students need a government-issued photo ID to test. If your student is under 21 and does not have one, the College Board provides a free Student ID Form that works as an alternative.

Widely Accepted by Colleges

Over 3,000 U.S. colleges and universities accept CLEP credits. Check your target school's CLEP policy to confirm which exams they accept and the scores required.

Proven Academic Results

According to the College Board, students who earn CLEP credits perform as well or better in later courses than students who took the introductory class. CLEP students also tend to have higher GPAs.

Testing Accommodations Available

Students with documented disabilities can request testing accommodations through the College Board, including extended time and other modifications.
